Questions, answered plainly
What is dashamoola?
Dashamoola, "ten roots", is one of the oldest Ayurvedic formulas: five roots from trees (bilva, agnimantha, shyonaka, patala, gambhari) and five from small plants (shalaparni, prishnaparni, brihati, kantakari, gokshura). Our Dashmoola Kwath is the formula on its own.
What is kali haldi?
Black turmeric (*Curcuma caesia*). It is a different plant from the yellow haldi in every kitchen, and from Lakadong, which is a variety of yellow haldi. Its rhizome is blue-black inside, more pungent, and smells of camphor.
Does it have caffeine?
No. There is no tea leaf in it.
Why does it need a longer simmer?
Roots and bark release their taste slowly. Three minutes on the flame gives you a fuller cup.
Can I drink it if I'm pregnant or on medication?
Not in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. On any regular medication, please ask your doctor first.
