The kahwa way
Kahwa is simmered, not just steeped. A short boil draws the roots and bark out before the leaves have their turn.
- Boil one cup of water About 200 ml in a small pan.
- Add a level teaspoon Stir it in and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes.
- Cover and rest Turn off the flame, cover the pan and let it steep for 2–3 minutes.
- Strain and sip warm Add honey only once the cup is warm, not hot. The texts never heat honey.
For hot days and warm evenings
A light, floral kahwa for when the weather is warm and you want a cup that stays cool on the tongue.

Questions, answered plainly
What does Pitta Balance mean?
Pitta is the Ayurvedic quality of heat and fire, which the texts link with hot, bright weather. This blend is cool, floral and light, the kind of cup Ayurveda reaches for in that weather. It is a kitchen blend, not a treatment.
Does it have caffeine?
No. There is no tea leaf in it, only herbs and spices, so you can drink it in the evening.
Can I drink it chilled?
Yes. Brew it as usual, let it come to room temperature, then chill it. Add honey while it is still just warm.
Can children drink it?
For children over five, make it weaker: half a teaspoon in a cup of water, and let it cool to warm. For younger children, or a child who is unwell, ask your doctor first.
Can I drink it if I'm pregnant or on medication?
Hibiscus is usually avoided in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, so please don't. On any regular medication, ask your doctor first.
