Benefits of Having Rice Kanji on an Empty Stomach

Rice Kanji is a natural homemade probiotic made with boiled rice. A good old traditional recipe passed from generations to keep a healthy gut. Its very similar to curd rice, But the main difference with Rice kanji and regular curd rice is the fermentation of cooked rice.

Steps to make Rice Kanji

A delicious bowl of homemade, natural probiotics will be ready within 5 minutes. Without shelling out hundreds to thousands of money on store brought probiotics.

  • Soak ½ cup cooked rice in ½ cup water in a clay pot for about 10-12 hours or overnight.
  • Add salt to taste in the fermented rice and mash it well.
  • Whisk ¼ cup of homemade curd and add it to rice paste, stir well.
  • Now add salt to taste and mix well.

Tempering

  1. In a season pan / tadka pan, heat ½ tbsp coconut/mustard oil.
  2. Add ¼ tsp mustard seeds, ¼tsp jeera seeds, 1tsp chopped curry leaves, ½ tsp chopped green chillies and fry well.
  3. Add 4tbsp chopped onions and fry till it turns light brown.
  4. Turn off the stove
  5. Now add in 1tsp grated ginger, ½ tsp hing and mix well.
  6. Pour temper over the prepared rice kanji.
  7. Eat immediately.
